Top Tip
Turn this project into a Remembrance Day classroom activity by creating a large card wreath base, and decorate with all the children’s handprints in the class.
How to Make

- Paint a craft wreath green. Leave to dry. Add another coat and leave to dry.
- Draw around your hand onto a sheet of green card and cut out the shape. Repeat this step until you have enough handprints cut out to fill around the wreath.
- Stick down the handprints onto the wreath using a glue stick, overlapping the handprints creates a layered leaf-like appearance.
- Draw 4 circles onto a sheet of red card roughly all the same size. The circles don’t have to be perfect.
- Cut out the circles place a small circle of glue in the centre of each circle and stick them on top of each other. This is to create the layered petals of a poppy. Leave to dry.
- Once the poppy is dry, bend upwards the edges of the circles to create a layered petal effect.
- Place a circle of glue in the centre of the top circle and stick down a medium-sized black pom pom for the centre of the poppy. Leave to dry.
- Repeat previous steps to create 3 poppies for the wreath.
- Stick down the 3 poppies to the bottom of the wreath using a glue stick.
- Cut a piece of yellow, red or green ribbon roughly 15cm long and tie in a loop through the hole at the top of the wreath secured with a double knot.
